Well this spring and summer was the best flounder gigging that I can remember in a long time. Limits or almost limits every night. The fall and winter gigging should be just as intense with cool fronts coming in every week.
The water temperature will drop and after each front the gigging will get better and better.

More Boat Photos!
The new boat has a 150 Yamaha 35 HP air motor LED underwater lights and LED lights above, she steers good and goes shallow for some great flounder gigging! Expect a smooth ride across the bays because she has a lot of weight at 24′ and 80″ wide, now that’s a lot of boat…. she’s the best on the bays!!
A GEAT FISHING TALE!
I had the pleasure of taking-out a group of 12 US Marines – that were here to help with clean-up efforts – for some awesome flounder gigging and it was absolutely amazing! They were from California and a fun bunch in spite of Harvey’s wrath to the area. See the photo below so you can experience the uplifting trip we had – and we all needed that kind of stress relief/time-out as we came to grips with the aftermath of Harvey. The next day, we got together for a massive fish fry – it was like a feast and served as a moment in time that raised everyone’s spirits, renewed our souls, and gave us the gift of fortitude so that we could face the road ahead with strength – overcoming adversity.
The recovery of our beautiful Texas Coastal Bend area will take time, but with everyone’s commitment and teamwork, I know that we’ll all be back – better than before. A positive attitude is a great thing to keep in your back pocket and it can pull a person thru just about anything. My hat is off to these marines who had all outstanding character and the ability to give hope to many. Thank you so much from all of us here in Rockport-Fulton and being with you made me proud to be an American! You did me a world of good!!
WHAT’S HAPPENING NOW:
We’re still seeing some debris in the back-bays and flats so I am extra careful navigating around those items. Secondly, the bottom contour of the bays was changed with the storm, making deep cuts and new channels. Almost all of the steep banks and sand bars remained in good shape and that’s welcome news for all “Flounder Gigging Enthusiasts!” One consideration in booking your trip is securing lodging. Many of our hotels at present are completing their repairs and will be open very soon. For the time-being, you can stay in neighboring cities like Portland, Corpus Christi, Sinton, Kingsville (all short drives away.)
“On a final note, I would like to thank all the companies and people for their donation to our area. Those donations are helping thousands of us get back on our feet, restoring our faith in the “power of people” and leaving a lasting impression as to when folks work together they can move mountains. Thank you America!”
